You have a ton of things to do to get your desk from under the mountain associated with paperwork that covers the item. Yet you put points off. You find yourself making social messages or calls, visiting Starbucks several times daily or surfing the world-wide-web. You might call your self lazy, but is it truly laziness? I don’t think therefore. I believe it is usually a deeper issue and has many components to it.

So what drives us to procrastinate if that isn’t laziness? Procrastination is driven simply by perceived internal and outer motivators. Perceived internal motivators are usually thoughts, feelings, and beliefs we create or perceive in this own minds. These include feeling insufficient (in intelligence, know-how, attention span), experiencing apprehension and fear, having a mind that will gets distracted easily, a need for gratification, a feeling of powerlessness, and experiencing a not enough control.

Procrastination is also motivated by external motivators which can be things that are outside us and not always in your control. They include having substandard resources (education, tools, technology, time), financial issues, legal problems, other people at function who influence our behavior or obligations we will need to others.

Believe it or not there’s also procrastination styles! We have the Perfectionist Procrastinator who is reluctant to start or finish an activity because they don’t want to produce anything less than perfect. They tend to become self critical and all or nothing at all thinkers. “I should” or “I have got to” are big within their vocabulary.

We have the Dreamer Procrastinator that doesn’t like details which help implementation of tasks hard. They are passive, fanciful and vague but often creative and still have “I wish” on the tip of their tongue.

We have the Worrier Procrastinator who have a huge need for security in order that they fear risk and change causing these phones avoid finishing projects. They are fearful, indecisive, cautious and are interested in “what if? “.

We have the Deifier Procrastinator who is the rebel that bucks the foundations. They set their own path that there’s no-one to predict or control. They are passive-aggressive, resistant, oppositional and non-conformists. Their most powerful thought is “Why should i? ”
