You need a Planting plan if you want your garden to look blooming marvellous

I wish I’d used a Planting plan last summer. My Planting plan was to stumble into the garden armed with a tray filled with flowers and hope for the best. That’s not the ideal method for a Planting plan. You need to have vision, you need to have a creative edge and you need to have some idea of what you are doing when you are planting new flowers. I didn’t that’s for sure. So my garden needs some TLC this year and I’m considering updating the look with a courtyard garden design. I won’t be tackling the Planting plan though. I’ve learnt my lesson well. This year jmgardendesign.com will be handling the project and I’m expecting a total transformation as a result.

I didn’t realise the importance of a Planting plan until I had spoken with the team at Jackie Middleton Garden Design. The Planting plan is a crucial part of the design process whether you want a courtyard garden design or a trendy and contemporary garden scheme. With a Planting plan you can consider where all of the flowers and shrubs are going to go, it highlights key areas and shows where each flower and every plant is going to go in the new garden design. The Planting plan is a like a blueprint for the new look garden and it’s a crucial part of a garden makeover project.

Without a Planting plan it would be all too easy to lose track of the courtyard garden design. A detailed Planting plan helps with costing. Once you know what plants are going to go where you can work out the budget for every single item you need. The size and the quantities of flowers and shrubs are shown on a Planting plan along with the exact location and the name of the plant. It’s really detailed and it ensures the project is managed with total efficiency from the beginning to the end. Get the design of the garden sorted and work out a Planting plan and you’re ready to get to work.

I can’t wait to see my new look garden in the spring, on paper it looks blooming brilliant!
