Why Might I Want to be a Digital Nomad?

You may or may not have been exposed to the term ‘Digital Nomad’ as yet, yet I imagine that it’s going to assume form of more and more newsworthy in time.

couple the essence of what it is with the unlikliness of a lot of of our younger compadres being efficient to afford property, probably until they twin up with their ‘better’ half, this Digital Nomad lifestyle choice is going to spread.

If I know anything relating to having been in my 20’s, rules are there to be tested, challenged and broken.

I would believe that the accomodation ‘rule’ could well be one of them

A little sidenote… I worked out simply now that I have spent ?40,000 to pay of ?10,000’s value of mortgage over the last 5 and a half years…

So, big controversy is… and something that our younger cousins are conceivably to latch on to is why bother having a home at all?

nb. Truth is, the Digital Nomad lifestyle choice is for each and every age group

With the rate of debt servicing to debt reduction that I have experienced, it makes absolutely no sense.
ergo demonstrate to me exactly what a Digital Nomad is?

A Digital Nomad is somebody who roams the earth doing business almost always through a computer and the internet.

many people go to work to only to sit in a cubicle each day and just converse through the mainframe, bar the occasional chat by the water cooler. You could probably do the working bit anyplace with a computer and the internet no?

Certain career choices being obviously better suited to the Digital Nomad lifestyle…

Writers, internet Marketers, Entrepreneurs, Website Designers, Journalists, Photographers etc being generally found in the group.

In these professions (and a few others) combined with the joys of fresh communication there is no real inevitability for employees to be stationed anyplace paricular..

suspect not having to commute to work everyday?

I used to live with a girl who had a horrendous commute everyday in and out of London, to work at a computer in an editorial/writing role. She could have saved herself hours upon hours of sweaty men and claustrophobia on the train if she could have worked at home… Which there was no real reason why not

hence who benefits in the Digital Nomad lifestyle?

You can look at it form the angle of employee, employer and society in general

Let’s start with the employee –

This is probably the easiest category to appreciate how a digital nomad lifestyle would be of benefit.

believe being effective to work in your pyjamas, or on a beach, or maybe a beach this week and in a ski resort next?

How about ski all day and work at night?

The joys are endless really. merely suppose not far off the cliche perfect lifestyle.

The perks of Digital Nomad for the employer –

If you had a 100% Digital Nomad staff there would be no essential for an office, which is frequently the second biggest fixed cost in a general brick and mortar enterprise.

One characteristic to note though, you would need to make the guaging of activity results based or you may not be seeing what you need out of your staff ;p

… and society as a whole? –

No more rush hour congestion and pollution from all of the unneccesary travelling.

It’s really what they call a win/win/win

The simplest route… If you are at present in a profession that lends itself to it, is clear it with your boss I suppose no?
