You will very rarely hear a Mac user say a bad word about their computers. You may have noticed that they instead tend to be smug and point out the things that their computer can do that your tired old PC can’t. However, there are still certain drawbacks with a Mac, and even if no Mac user will tell you them, they are there. However, they are still few and far between and knowing the pros and cons of using Apple in business or at home could help you decide which will be better.
Ultimately, Mac users wouldn’t be so smug if they didn’t truly have something that was extremely user-friendly. We are a great nation of moaners and we like to deride as many things as we can, yet users of Apple in business and at home both extol the virtues of the machines they buy.
Firstly, Macs are faster, more attractive and, once you get used to them, easier to use. They start up and shut down far quicker and can be used with many other products seamlessly, helping you use anything from an iPod to and iPad for business too should you need to. Their computer support is better and the scope of things you can achieve is also far higher, allowing you to run Mac OS and windows operating systems simultaneously so you can literally get the best of both worlds.
So what are the drawbacks? Well, there are surprisingly few, but whether you wish to use a Mac or an iPad for business or leisure, you will undoubtedly have to buy brand new software. Whilst these computers will come with a great deal of free software, more specialised software will need to be bought and will often not just be able to be transferred from your PC to your Mac. They are also more expensive to buy and more expensive to keep running – however, the extra price you pay is more than adequately reflected in usability.
So basically, if you can afford a Mac, get one.
