Oak flooring helps create traditional atmosphere in cottage

When consumers seek residences to live in,they often look for very different things. Some individuals desire ultra-modern, minimalist properties dominated by glass and metal, while others prefer more traditional, homely styles.

One couple who sought an abode that fell into the latter category were Wendy and Matthew Garrett, the Aberdeen Press and Journal reports. After travelling for more than a year, the pair decided to settle down and they wanted to find a property to suit them both.

She was after the country life, but he was keen to remain in an urban environment. Luckily, they managed to find the perfect compromise. They came across a residence described as a “country cottage in the heart of Aberdeen”. One of the features that adds a rural feeling to the building is its solid wood flooring. The property has oak flooring in a number of its rooms.

Commenting on her first impressions of it, Mrs Garrett said: “We didn’t know what to expect when we went to view it, but as soon as we walked through the gate we just knew this was the place for us.”

According to the Press and Journal, the accommodation, potentially including the solid wood flooring, has been very well maintained by the couple in the years since they took it on.It also features a cottage-style open lounge, conservatory and fireplace, as well as dining area.

However, the pair now have to sell up to move away for Mr Garrett’s work in Delft, which is a city located in the south of Holland. For this reason, they have put the residence, complete with its oak flooring, on the market. In the future, they hope to build their own eco-home.

Describing their time in the property, Ms Garrett said: “This has been a very happy home and we hope that someone else feels the same way.”
