Make fireplaces the main focal points all year round

Fireplaces have traditionally been the focal points for many living rooms and lounges for many years. Like the rest of the home, sometimes fireplaces can do with a bit of a revamp to liven them up a bit at different times of the year. While you may think about putting a lick of paint on the bedroom wall, this just will not do when dealing with a marble fire surround. In this case, rather than changing the actual fireplace itself, make changes to what is placed on it or change how it is presented in the room and to those who visit your home.
Marble fireplaces can be used to create an atmosphere in a room. Nothing is more cosy and comforting than thinking of a roaring fire on a cold winter night. However, how can you maintain that type of atmosphere at other times of the year too such as in the summer for instance?
Some people choose to decorate the mantelpiece above the fireplace in line with the current season. For example, in winter this may include putting festive decorations on the mantelpiece or putting orange or brown decorations up during the autumn. In spring, fresh flowers may create  a wonderful centrepiece and in summer hot colours such as yellows and pinks may draw all eyes to the fireplace.
The fireplace should always play a part in family celebrations too as it is usually the focal point of the main family room such as the living room. As it is always there playing a part in family life, it is only right it should be decorated at times for events such as birthday parties or anniversaries. In the same way, a family with children may decorate it for festivals such as Halloween and Easter.
