Nature or Nurture?

There is much to be said in the argument as to whether nature or nurture is more important. Some suggest that the fact that two brothers brought up by the same parents can turn out to be completely different, saying this proves that nature plays the biggest part in how we turn out. However, in reality, even if brothers are brought up by the same people they may well not be treated the same, or a significant event may befall one which does not befall the other. When it comes to nurture, those who have been neglected often tend to go on to neglect their own children, giving the nurture camp even extra weight.

So, whilst the jury may still be out for some, there is a good chance that nurture will at least play some role in a child’s development, if not the only role. Therefore, when it comes to helping children develop, it is best to give them all the support possible right from an early age.

The biggest benefit that children can have at such an age is a feeling of being appreciated. Should a child constantly be overlooked, there is a good chance that they will end up simply feeling they will never achieve anything. Therefore, even those not blessed with great intellect or great skills need to be shown encouragement for what they do achieve.

In schools, offering custom stickers to children as rewards goes a long way. However, just offering them to the ones that get the best results will have a negative effect on those who try hard but don’t get the desired results. School stickers should therefore be given for effort as well as for any other positive attribute.

Getting custom stickers allows for far more flexibility in the school stickers that are offered meaning that you can reward children for the little things too and therefore ensure that they still feel valued, no matter what ‘results’ they ultimately achieve.
