Considerations When Hiring a Skip

Waste disposal can be timely and costly. Whether you are refurbishing a house or whether you have a business that is producing a great deal of waste as it grows, you may well find that the best way to deal with a certain amount of the waste is through skip hire. Both businesses and individuals are likely to need skips at some point, but since such times are few and far between, it is not always obvious what considerations need to made at such a time.

Unlike normal waste disposal, with skip hire you will need to plan in advance to make sure you have enough space to hold the waste you are creating. Not only that, but planning ahead also needs to encompass applying for any relevant permits.

Different areas will have different rules on the placement of skips and you will need to check with the council to find out what permit you might need and whether or not you will actually be able to place the skip where you need it. On top of this, you need to be aware just which items you are allowed to put into a skip and which may need more specialist disposal methods. Again, be sure to check with both the hire companies and the council well in advance.

Without the right planning, the whole process can become a nightmare. However, waste management companies may well be able to give you plenty of advice to help you ensure you have exactly what you need. It is also worth bearing in mind that waste management companies will usually offer wait and load services too which may be more cost effective for those who need only a short term solution, as well as for those who cannot place a skip when it really needs to be.

So think ahead and make sure you know exactly what you need before you start, not after.
